Influenza at The Johns Hopkins Hosptial

We have our first case of Influenza for the 2003-2004 Season at JHH as of 12/18/04.

We now require screeening of all patients with bronchiolitis, pneumonia, sputum production, and "flu like" symptoms. The screening is done by obtaining and sending a Nasopharyngeal aspirate (NPA) for viral culture and antigen detection. All patients with the above symptoms/ diseases should be placed in Droplet Precautions. Please click on the Infection Control Plan above for more information.

See the CDC website for more details on national flu activity.
